2 wrongs don't make a right

Early Wednesday morning Caleb got a fire call. By the time the dept. got there the fire was rolling. It took them 11 hours to put it out. It was one of the biggest fires they ever put out. Now this is Hinckley. So this was a huge half million dollar home. The bigger it is the harder it is to put out. When they got it under control, they inspected the area to see if it was arson. IT WAS. They found definite proof. There were words marked in paint on the sidewalk saying "die fags" and "there's more to come". Turns out that the house was owned by 2 gay men. Now, I don't agree with the gay lifestyle and yes, it clearly states in the Bible that it is a sin. But setting someones house on fire because of it? In my book, that's even worse. Jesus told us to love and lead others to Him by showing them love. The men weren't home at the time, so noone was physically hurt. But I can't imagine the emotional pain that is inflicting them. In no way am I supporting their decision to live as a gay couple but I really feel for them. God loves all of us. Hinckley has had their fair share of arson fires. A couple of years ago environmental terrorists set fire to a field full of farmland equipment and wrote on a huge sign "stop using up the land in Hinckley to build your rich homes" or something to that effect. I guess that they were planning on using this land to build a home development and some people decided to to stop them by setting that land on fire? What the heck? You just ruined the land anyway. I just don't understand people. Why do they think it's OK to set fire to someone's home because they are living a lifestyle that they don't agree with? Why do they think it's OK to write death threats? Why do they think it's OK to try and hurt or kill? They don't have the right! I guess I'll never understand. But God does. And someday, He will come back.

That is sooooooooo sad! I agree with ya - even if you don't support their lifestyle - I am so against those who BOMB Abortion clinics or SET FIRE to people's homes!

I agree, Crystal. Some people ignore all the commandments that apply to their own sin, and condemn others for a similar sin. Homosexuality is not really a worse sin than adultery, but we act as if it is. Burning farmland equipment to preserve farmland? Hello? What is wrong with these people? "Heeere's your sign!" (Are you familiar with that comedian, he says people like that should wear a sign that says, "I'm stupid!") In this case, the Stupid people are not only not wearing a sign to let us know how stupid they are, they try to remain anonymous and do their dirty deeds in the cover of darkness. May the Lord have mercy on all of us.

What a sad story. I feel bad for the men who lost their home.

I agree with you. I don't understand why people do something wrong to protest something they think is wrong. Like Kimber, I immediatly thought of bombing abortion clinics. They end up killing people in protest of killing people. Self-righteousness plagues us, doesn't it?

ignorance and hatred - the KKK is alive and well. only the targets have changed...

what a sad story!!! i can't believe that some people so miss the whole point of Jesus' life. He changes us with LOVE, not anger and abuse and hatred and fear. if we show love, people will believe that we want the best for them. at some point we might even be able to convince them of God's love and His plan for their lives. if we set their homes on fire, we only show that we don't care about them. we only care about how they live...

i am using the collective "we" because we all have been guilty of judging and condemning the sinner because of their sin. we may not bomb clinics or burn things, but we don't put out the WELCOME mat either...

i'm rambling... this story is just so WRONG!!! i couldn't agree more with your perspective, Crystal! Two wrongs have never made a right...

Hello Crystal - Greetings from Charlotte, NC. Thank you for welcoming to Blog Land. It's actually kind of fun, just a little time consuming, especially when you are new at it. I'm saddened to know what happened to the owners of that home. God is sovereign and he knows why all this happened. All we can do is pray that something good would come out of it all.
