You know you're in West Virginia when...

5. The sign for the local gas station is spray painted on cardboard.
4. You have to stop every few miles to avoid hitting a neighbors dog.
3. The nearest grocery store is 30 minutes away.
2. "Y'all come back now, ya here?" is a common everyday term.

And the #1 indication you're in West Virginia...
Your neighbor proudly displays the confederate flag on his front porch.

As you all can guess Caleb and I went to West Virginia this past weekend. We actually did have a lot of fun. My uncle had planned a family reunion and we got to see people we have never met or seen in years. There were all sorts of kids, grandkids, aunts, uncles, neices, nephews and cousins. I enjoyed myself, but boy am I glad to be home. And now for a story from our little trip.

My aunt is very afraid of dogs. She had a really bad experience as a kid and has been afraid every since. There was a beautiful german shepard that had run away from home and decided to park itself on her front porch. She started to freak out. Caleb and I went outside and she (the dog) was very friendly. You could tell she was someone's pet. She was nicely groomed, knew several commands and had a semi collar on her neck. She was on the thin side and obviously had no idea where home was. We had no idea who she belonged to. So we did the next best thing. We took her to the local humane society. We let them know the situation and they said they would listen for a call regarding a lost german shepard and they would take good care of her. We were glad we did the right thing.

So, what did you do this weekend?

Sounds like fun -- and hopefully the owners of the dog had a happy reunion, too.

Congrats on passing the exam!!! I'm very happy for you : )
